This Kingman Hardy Pit turquoise cabochon was cut from material mined in one of the named pits within the historic Kingman Mine in northwestern Arizona. Hardy Pit turquoise ranges from clear sky blue through deeper blues and blue-green, often threaded with earthy tan, brown, or black matrix. Some pieces carry delicate webbing, while others reveal broad, painterly patterns where the turquoise and host rock meet. This variety makes Hardy Pit material especially desirable among collectors, silversmiths, and jewelry makers seeking distinctive American turquoise.

I purchased this turquoise rough directly from the Colbaugh family, who own and mine the Kingman turquoise deposit.

This cabochon has been stabilized for added durability and long-term color retention, and backed for additional strength.
