Ella Mae turquoise comes from a small claim in Esmeralda County, Nevada, operated by third-generation turquoise miner Tristan Otteson. The Otteson family has worked turquoise deposits around Tonopah since the 1940s, and Ella Mae carries that history forward on a much smaller scale. Because the mine produces only limited amounts, high-grade Ella Mae seldom appears on the market. This cabochon was cut from rough that came directly from the miner.
Natural and untreated, and backed for strength.
*Some of the matrix retains natural texture, blending the refined look of the turquoise and the raw look of the rough matrix *

As always, each stone is cut by hand here in my studio in the mountains of Wyoming.
