This Zachery-treated Palomino Variscite cabochon comes from Sonora, Mexico, where the material is found in association with turquoise deposits. Although sometimes marketed as turquoise, Palomino is variscite—a related aluminum phosphate mineral. Its color ranges from pale mint and blue-green to yellow-green, cream and warm golden tones, often accompanied by tan or brown matrix and occasional metallic pyrite.

Zachery treated and backed for additional stability while setting and wearing.

As always, each stone is cut by hand here in my studio in the mountains of Wyoming.
